When a government has a devious and cheating nature they distrust everyone

’Unreasonable hurdles’ block some immigrants from getting OAS, critics say

Branko Sucic has been waiting a long time for his Old Age Security pension.

His daughter says the 78-year-old has been faced with a barrage of government demands for decades-old documents ever since first applying for the payments in 2004, but 10 years later she feels he’s no closer to getting what he deserves.

“He could die by the time this goes through,” said Marianne Rukavina, whose father immigrated to Canada in 1970. “This is so wrong . . . and I just want to make it right.”

Sucic, however, doesn’t seem to be alone — some advocates for seniors and immigrants claim certain applicants who came to Canada from other countries appear to be treated unfairly when they apply for OAS.

The Harper government has shown Canadians that they are not afraid to cheat on election campaign funding, or the misdirection of voters and now, with bill c-23, that they are prepared to destroy Canadian democracy.

So what makes you think that they would not be prepared to make immigrants pay a penalty for being faithful to and supportive of family members outside of Canada?

It should be obvious just by looking at what they have done to Canadians who have fallen on hard times and try to collect EI. Add to that the TFW program and the Harper government has found a way to collect billions in tax dollars off the backs of the Canadian worker as well as the Temporary Foreign Worker. Lets not forget our veterans and what they have done to them.

So why not stick it to immigrant seniors too?

I ask all Conservative supports one question "If your elected officials are willing to use seniors and the unemployed as well as the working class to pay down their deficit from their failed recovery plan..... then what makes you think that you or your children won't be next"?
