Prime examples of the HarperCons lack of integrity.... yet another lawsuit due to HarperCon incompetence

Mobilicity's backer sues Industry Canada over losses
Federal government has twice blocked sale to Telus and won't transfer wireless spectrum

Another example of 'bait and switch' by the Cons. Provide assurances to attract investment, then remove them when they're relied upon. Unless business is in the oil sector, it's 'buyer beware'.

"A U.S.-based backer of Mobilicity is suing Industry Canada for blocking the sale of struggling wireless startup and not establishing an environment where it could thrive."

"Investment firm Quadrangle Group says Mobilicity parent firm Data & Audio Visual Enterprises Investments Inc. ...had assurances from Industry Canada that they would be able to transfer spectrum when they invested millions in Mobilicity."

"Quadrangle has filed a lawsuit with Ontario Superior Court of Justice seeking $1.2 billion in damages claiming that its backing helped Mobilicity build its network and create thousands of jobs, but they ended up losing their investment."

Immigrant Investors Sue Canada Over Program's Cancellation

Big money can't buy everything, not even Canadian residency.

That's a notion that wealthy would-be immigrants are challenging in a lawsuit against the federal government after it cancelled the Immigrant Investor Program (IIP), the South China Morning Post reported.

The program offered permanent residency to anyone with a net worth of more than $1.6 million in exchange for an $800,000 investment that would often take the form of a loan to the government. The government scrapped it in the 2014 budget, saying it was open to fraud.

Around 1,500 applicants, mostly from Hong Kong and China, are now suing the government after being left in bureaucratic limbo. They are asking for $5 million per applicant, which could come to a total of as much as $18 billion for all the claims.

The investors were initially told that their applications would take 18 to 24 months to process, but some have waited longer, said lawyer Tim Leahy as cited at Yahoo! News.

One applicant sold her hair salon in China as she waited to move to Canada and now she has no income, Leahy said.

Another applicant put her son in a Canadian school in China and bought a house in Vancouver in anticipation of their move. Now he can't complete an entrance exam for a Chinese university because he went to an English school.

The program's cancellation has left a backlog of more than 66,000 applications, over 50,000 of which were filed in Hong Kong, The South China Morning Post reported.

There are many other suits that have been filed from within Canada and from outside the country.....

Eli Lilly files $500M NAFTA suit against Canada over drug patents

"Patent decisions in Canada over the last decade not only fly in the face of long-established international standards, but they're subjective and completely unpredictable," Doug Norman, vice-president and general patent counsel for Eli Lilly, said in a statement issued Friday.

"The standard seems to be that there is no standard."

New Brunswick farmer suing federal government after year in Beirut jail

OTTAWA—A New Brunswick farmer who spent more than a year in a Beirut jail on allegations he shipped rotten potatoes to Algeria is suing the Canadian government, arguing it didn’t protect his Charter rights.

Henk Tepper says in a statement of claim filed Monday with the Federal Court in Ottawa that the government didn’t do enough to try to secure his release.

“The defendant’s conduct constitutes a marked departure from the ordinary standards of decent behaviour and interfered with one of Tepper’s most fundamental rights as a human being, the right to liberty and security of person,” the lawsuit says.

“The defendant blatantly disregarded the repeated requests of Tepper, his family members, his legal counsel and the Lebanese authorities for assistance in securing Tepper’s release.”

These are just a few of the lawsuits filed since 2006 and are costing the Canadian taxpayer dearly.
