Let the lawsuits begin

Saddle Lake Cree Nation submits ‘Notice of Non-Consent’ to PM Harper, Premier Wen Jiabao & Ambassador Zhang Junsai of the PRC

In my opinion this stand by the Saddle Lake Cree Nation is not only very important for the First Nations community but for all Canadians.

Stephen Harper, in signing away the rights of the people, has totally ignored prior legal binding treaties and agreements made with the indigenous people. In so doing he has opened the door to both Supreme Court and World Court failures of his governance and decision making.

As I sit here thinking about his method of governing the country I cannot help but draw a comparison to Bashir al-Assad. Both do not consult their people but rule autonomously. Both control the state police. Both are defiant and arrogant. Both do not take advise from anyone.

Granted, Stephen Harper has yet to incarcerate the opposition however both he and Assad have silenced those who speak out against their respective dictatorial governance. One using brute force the other by using the CRA or cutting funding and starving them out of existence.
