Corrupt or what.... your Harper government phuking Canadians

Special rules for special MPs?

Of all the offences in Canadian law for which an MP could be convicted and lose their pension, *this* is perhaps the foremost for which an MP should suffer. It is not simply gaining office with a comfortable income, pension and other perks, but the ability to represent certain interests which constitutes the fraud on not only the MP's constituents, but the HoC and the entire population as a whole.

What will happen if Deano loses his bid to reopen his trial and comes closer to risking actual jail time? Another amendment, this time to provide him with a Spanish villa?

NDP leader Thomas Mulcair asked Prime Minister Stephen Harper Tuesday why the Conservatives added an amendment to the proposed Bill C-518, which would remove the pension of any MP convicted of an offense - unless, as the amendment stipulates, they were convicted under the Canada Elections Act, a move Mulcair said would only benefit one person: Conservative MP Dean Del Mastro, found guilty last week of violating the Canada Elections Act.
